On this guided excursion you will live an experience that brings you closer to the history of Gran Canaria in a pleasant and close way. Once we leave the tourist areas behind, we start our excursion going up to the picturesque village of Agüimes (ancient aboriginal village) and from there we continue until we reach "Guayadeque", an impressive ravine where, in pre-Hispanic times, the ancient inhabitants of Gran Canaria, the aborigines, lived in caves. In the Guayadeque ravine we stop so that you can see and visit a cave village, with its church, bar and small houses built into the mountain itself, and all this in one of the most spectacular ravines of Gran Canaria.
Our next visit is to an Aloe Vera plantation. Here you can see in situ how they cut the Aloe Vera leaves and discover what the plant itself looks like inside. After a wonderful explanation of the benefits of this healing plant you can try the excellent properties of this plant on your own skin.
The tour continues along the eastern road and once in the north we start to climb until we reach the smallest municipality of the island: "Firgas", where you can stroll through its beautiful streets and contemplate one of the most beautiful man-made waterfalls of the Canary Islands, a tribute to the Canary Islands and all the municipalities of Gran Canaria represented in it.
The excursion continues through small farms full of typical crops and you can see how the island is becoming greener and greener. At around midday we stop for lunch in a typical restaurant in the centre of Gran Canaria.
The interior of the beautiful island shows us its green heart, deep ravines and breathtaking mountain scenery that will take your breath away. In front of you you will have on more than one occasion the possibility to photograph the majestic "Roque Nublo" and "Roque Bentaiga", symbols of our history and part of our culture. After reaching the summit, we continue our route and start to descend surrounded by Canarian pine trees and the almond trees of Tejeda (a village known for its almond sweets: "Mazapán", "Bienmesabe", "Ron miel", among others).
We continue our excursion downhill until we reach the small village of Ayacata, surrounded by almond trees which you can see in all their splendour with their beautiful pink and white flowers during the winter months.
After passing the village of "Tunte" in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, we stop for a walk in the idyllic village of Fataga, known as "The valley of a thousand palm trees". Fataga is today a village where many artists and painters have settled because of the peace they have found there.
We continue through a beautiful ravine that reveals the volcanic origin of this beautiful island. This last stretch does not leave you indifferent, you feel as if you were in the "Gran Cañón" but in Gran Canaria, and in his day "Unamuno" expressed his astonishment at contemplating this landscape as: "Tempestad petrificada" (petrified storm).
After a day full of beautiful experiences we go back to the hotel, it will take you time to assimilate everything you have seen, but you will be happy to have experienced it.
